Theresa Aragon de Shepro papers, 1962-1979.

The papers reflect Shepro's interest and active involvement in Chicano and Mexican-American issues and organizations in Washington State between 1962 and 1979. Her personal papers contain extensive subject files that include reports, speeches and writings, and microfilm and audiotapes about a variety of Mexican-American issues, events, and organizations. The series on organizations documents associations with which Shepro was involved, including Active Mexicanos, Centro de la Raza, the Chicano Education Association of the State of Washington, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the Washington Commission on Mexican American Affairs, and the Washington Governor's Advisory Committee on Mexican American Affairs. Although the papers include few documents concerning Shepro's teaching or administrative duties at the University of Washington, the Chicano issues subject series contains material relating to UW Chicano faculty resignations in 1975. Major correspondents include the Seattle Model City Program; Vilma S. Martínez, president and general counsel of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund; and Ricardo R. García, executive secretary of the Washington Commission on Mexican American Affairs.
